Rural Matters

May 18, 2020

Michelle chats with Matt Probst, PA-C, the medical director of El Centro Family Health serving northern New Mexico, which was featured in the documentary, The Providers, and who is currently serving as the 100% Community San Miguel County community organizer. Matt read 100% Community and took on the mission with his community to help put an end to childhood trauma. What resulted was a playbook for a pandemic. 100% Community San Miguel was already organized and mobilized so Matt and the community were able to accomplish something during this pandemic that can only be described as nothing short of remarkable. How this community is responding to COVID-19 can teach rural counties across the country an enormous amount about moving from crisis to community. Michelle and Matt talk about a special virtual live event, For Rural Communities Responding to COVID-19, that is scheduled for May 27 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 Central. If you’re a civic leader; public mental, and behavioral health professional; city and country manager; higher education or school superintendent or work at a transportation, housing, or food agencies, you’ll want to register for the virtual conference.
